ADBE down 4.5% on Q3 Earnings as JPM Drops 3.4%, BAC 3.0%

The 10-year Treasury yield entered Tuesday at 4.96%, four basis points from a level that historically recalibrates equity discount rates and compresses bank multiples. The VIX sat at 14.9 — not an alarm reading, but the combination explains a session that sold financials while commodities moved the other direction.
Banks shed more than 3% each
$JPM fell 3.4% to $340.29 after a $2.6 billion AI underwriting deal drew Washington scrutiny over geopolitical exposure, expanding the compliance cost on the bank's technology deal pipeline. $BAC declined 3.0%; management's own public commentary this session called out agentic AI commerce as a fraud and dispute-cost risk requiring regulatory guardrails before it scales — a posture markets read as caution on a category they are otherwise pricing as growth. At a near-5% 10-year, neither name is an easy hold.
Adobe: selling persists 12 days after earnings (Update)
We covered Adobe's Q3 2026 results on September 10. Since then, $ADBE has kept selling — today it fell 4.5%, stretching the year-to-date decline to 32% while the S&P 500 has gained roughly 14%. Q3 revenue is confirmed at $6.8 billion on 13% growth with $1.8 billion in profit; the market's sustained discount instead reflects unresolved questions around AI-native competition in Acrobat's core market. Analyst targets carry 22% implied upside from current levels. That gap between target and price action remains the active story.
Copper bids; gold miner moves without a dateable driver
$FCX advanced 3.0% as copper held near $6.70 per pound. Freeport-McMoRan's leaching production costs run under $1 per pound — the spread is structural, and today's price extended it. $NEM gained 3.4%. The desk reviewed Newmont's filings and news window and found no dateable catalyst. The move is reported at face value.
Filings desk
Berkshire Hathaway ($BRK-B) disclosed a $212.6 million purchase of Lennar stock — a nine-figure homebuilder allocation made with the 10-year sitting at 4.96%. The positioning deserves attention given where rates sit. Separately: since our September 18 report on a $7.6 million NVIDIA executive share withholding, director Mark Stevens has disclosed a sale of approximately $300 million in $NVDA shares — a transaction two orders of magnitude larger and from a board-level insider rather than a compensation-related settlement.
What we set aside
One proxy and governance filing was examined and held — board mechanics, not a catalyst. Five disclosures arrived today describing events more than 36 hours old and did not clear the freshness gate.
The desk is watching whether the 10-year breaches 5% on Wednesday and how JPMorgan characterizes the regulatory scope of its AI underwriting review.
