The session delivered a clear split. Five names in the semiconductor and AI-adjacent complex lost between 4% and 7.5%, while five others across streaming, software, consumer tech, media, and crypto advanced a near-symmetrical 4–5%.

The selloff

$TSLA led the board lower, closing down 7.5%. The primary context was a market-cap convergence story: Tesla and $META arrived at the same valuation — $1.48 trillion each — while carrying radically different multiples. Tesla trades at roughly 200x earnings against an unproven robotaxi timeline; Meta sits near 19x on 33% revenue growth. That parity, at those different multiples, sharpened the valuation argument against Tesla. Rivian's formalized partnership with Uber for robotaxi deployment also registered as a dateable competitive entry against Tesla's autonomous-vehicle narrative.

$AMAT fell 7.4%. No headline specific to Applied Materials cleared today's freshness gate; semiconductor equipment makers are typically the first to reprice when fabrication-facility spending expectations shift. $INTC dropped 5.3%, pulling back from June's 21.8% run, which was built on optimism around a potential Apple chip-manufacturing partnership. HSBC semiconductor analyst Frank Lee — previously a declared INTC skeptic — reset his price target this session, providing a concrete catalyst for the pullback. $META fell 4.9% alongside the valuation-parity pressure; an analyst note on Meta's Neocloud-versus-Hyperscaler positioning also questioned whether the company's excess compute capacity represents a viable revenue stream. $AMD dropped 4.3% after Cantor Fitzgerald strongly reset its price target, with the note explicitly naming a different chip name as the firm's new preferred AI exposure.

The other side of the tape

$AAPL rose 4.8%, held in focus by the ongoing narrative around a potential U.S.-based Intel chip-manufacturing arrangement. $NFLX added 4.7% as investors positioned ahead of the July 16 earnings report; analysts cite cheap valuation and an accelerating advertising business. $ADBE gained 4.1% after an analyst upgrade to Hold placed fair value near $230. $DIS advanced 4.0%. $COIN rose 3.9% despite a record 48-day streak of negative Bitcoin premium — institutional Bitcoin selling at its longest reported pace — and platform scrutiny following an AI-generated prediction-market error.

What we set aside

The desk examined 31 tickers today. Four entries — Berkshire Hathaway B shares ($BRK-B), $CRM, and $HD — produced no substantive news or filings inside the freshness window and were dropped.

Filings desk: No insider transactions above $1M or material corporate events cleared today's gate.

The desk is watching the $NFLX July 16 earnings report and any analyst follow-through on the $INTC and $AMD target resets in the sessions ahead.
